Explosion at Interior Ministry Training Base Injures Two Civilians
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) confirms that two civilians were injured at their training base during an explosion.
An investigation is underway under Article 118 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, pertaining to infliction of intentional bodily injury.
The Ministry explains that civilians are banned from entering the place, located in Gardabani, as the territory is mined, but the citizens did not pay attention to the warning signs.
Director of Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Kakichashvili, says the injured men were taken to hospital by MIA employees right after the explosion.
“One of the injured has already been operated on,” he said, adding the lives of the injured are not in danger.
Director of Special Tasks Department added that there are many warning signs and boards outside and inside the base, warning that entry is prohibited.
