Germany Supports Georgia’s Sustainable Development Efforts
The representatives of Germany and Georgia signed a new financial agreement to spur sustainable development in the country. Within the new framework, over €253 million has been pledged by the German government to invest in projects which support rural and urban development.
Georgia’s Finance Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, expressed his gratitude and guarantees that the money will be used to create an exponential development boom in the area of sustainability. German Ambassador to Georgia Heike Peitsch signed the financial agreement on behalf of the German government.
“The amount of funds provided by today’s agreement is a record and it clearly shows the importance of cooperation in the field of development between our countries,” highlights Peitsch.
In terms of project allocation, the funds will be channeled towards vocational trainings, improving the public infrastructure in various regions of Georgia, and increasing the efficiency and quality of the power supply network in Georgia.
Germany’s Development Agency GIZ is very active in Georgia and has invested vast amounts in development projects ranging from education and environmental protection to infrastructure.
