Nikol Pashinyan Meets Ambassador of Georgia in Armenia

The leader of the Armenian Velvet Revolution and the only candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, met Ambassador of Georgia, Giorgi Saganelidze on May 3, the same day he met with the ambassadors of the United States, Russia, and the head of the EU delegation in Armenia.

Pashinyan noted the special role of the development of Armenian-Georgian and Armenian-Iranian relations.

During the parliamentary debates on May 1, Pashinyan, speaking about the Armenian-Georgian relations, stated that they should be maximally isolated from geopolitical influences, as in many cases the tensions between the two states have been a result of geopolitical interests, not the national interests of the states themselves.

Pashinyan answering to the question of Javakheti region and the situation with the Armenian population there by stating that Armenia and Georgia are friendly states and should not have any claims against each other. He added that the Armenian-Georgian relations must be based on mutual respect of the identity and national interests which will bring to the future a strengthening of Armenian-Georgian relations.
