Zurab Abashidze: Dialogue with Russia Has No Alternative

“The Georgian government will continue its pragmatic relations with Russia and there will be no loss of nerve,” commented Zurab Abashidze, The Prime Minister’s Special Envoy in Relations with Russia – InterPressNews reports.

Abashidze emphasizes, “It is clear that Georgian-Russian dialog is supported by the country’s western partners and his daily interaction with these partners warrants their full support in these issues.”

“Our partners are well aware the dialogue with Russia, despite its toughness, has no alternative,” he cited. According to the diplomat, the previous team of the United National Movement made some fatal mistakes regarding Russia and they [Georgian Dream] will not repeat them.

For information, Russia’s creeping occupation in Shida Kartli (near Tskhinvali Region) continues. Georgian citizens are kidnapped and arrested by Russian occupation forces on a daily basis.
