Ruling Party Congress to Be Held Tomorrow
The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party will hold its fifth congress on May 11 in Mtatsminda Park.
According to the Georgian Dream press service, the congress will elect a new chairman and a new political council.
The meeting will be held in a working format and will be attended by party delegates and members of the political team from all over the country.
The congress will start at 16:00 it will be closed to the press for an hour. The official part of the event will start from 17:00 and will be broadcast.
Last week, a GD meeting was held, which named the list of new members of the political council:
- Bidzina Ivanishvili, Party Founder
- Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister Georgia
- Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of Parliament
- Tamar Chugoshvili, First Vice Speaker
- Giorgi Volsky,Vice Speaker
- Ilia Nakashidze, Deputy Speaker
- Archil Talakvadze, Parliamentary Majority Leader
- Mamuka Mdinaradze, Chair of Georgian Dream faction
- Dimitri Samkharadze, MP
- Bidzina Gegidze, MP
- Irakli Tripolsky, MP
- Maia Tskitishvili, Infrastructure Minister
- Sozar Subari, Minister of Refugees
- Davit Saganelidze, Chair of the state-led Partnership Fund
- Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili announced that the founder of the GD party, Bizina Ivanishvili decided to return to politics and take the post of Party Chair in order to strengthen the party and motivate its members.
