Armenian, Georgian PMs Agree to Strengthen Economic Relations
Armenian and Georgian prime ministers Nikol Pashinyan and Giorgi Kvirikashvili discussed the future perspectives of Armenian-Georgian relations after the Velvet Revolution in Armenia during a phone conversation on May 11. The PMs underlined the importance of further development of the traditional friendly relations of the two countries, particularly the importance of strengthening economic ties.
The Armenian PM repeated his statement that the relations of the two countries must be developed independently from geopolitical factors.
PGeorgian PM Kvirikashvili invited Pashinyan to visit Georgia and expressed his willingness for the further development of relations with Armenia.
According to the press statement of the Armenian government, the two PMs have agreed to meet in the near future.
The new Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, who came to the power due to mass protests throughout the country which forced the government of Serzh Sargsyan to resign, has repeatedly stated that he gives special priority to the future of strengthened ties with neighboring Georgia and Iran, stating that these two countries play a special role in Armenian foreign relations.
