Message from Rustaveli Avenue: We Have Better Things to Talk About

Despite ultra-nationalist threats of a fight brewing just blocks away from the youth "for Freedom" in central Tbilisi, there is as yet no sign of trouble. In fact, the atmosphere on Rustaveli avenue is overwhelmingly positive and optimistic.

The latest speaker on stage outside the old parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue was a Georgian student asking the Georgian people to talk about polluted air, people with disabilities, students who can't afford to continue their studies, workers dying on constructions and in mines.

"These are the things Georgia has to fix. Georgia has come through hell. We need to make this country a better place," he told the crowd.

His words were met with enthusiastic applause.
