US Senators Praise Georgia’s Pro-Western Policy

American Senators have praised Georgia’s Western aspirations and policies, highly evaluating reforms implemented by Georgian authorities.

“Georgia is the only country in the neighborhood of Russia, which pursues clearly western policy and does it in a thoroughly reasonable and rational manner," stated Republican Senator Lindsey Graham at a meeting held with Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, who is paying a working visit to the US.

It was noted by both parties that the level of US-Georgia economic cooperation should be raised to meet the level and strength of political relations between the two countries.

Among other topics, the meeting touched on regional challenges. Lindsey Graham reiterated his support towards the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.

According to Graham, Georgia enjoys strong support from the US Senate, as has been demonstrated repeatedly in both its Resolutions and Consolidated Bills with supporting provisions.

The Georgian delegation expressed its satisfaction with the meetings on Twitter:

Kvirikashvili and the Georgian delegation also meet with Senators Ron Johnson and Chris Murphy.

The Senators positively assessed that the Government of Georgia has maintained the stable development of the country, despite Russian aggression.

The senators also stressed the significant advancement of Georgia observed in recent years towards integration with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in terms of military reforms, alongside continuing political and economic reforms.

According to the Senators, Georgia has strong, bipartisan support from Republicans and Democrats in the US Congress.
