Border Agreement Signed Between Georgia, Azerbaijan
A delegation led by Head of the Border Police of Georgia Teimuraz Kekelidze paid an official visit to Azerbaijan on June 11-13 at the invitation of Chief of the Azerbaijani State Border Service, Colonel General Elchin Guliyev.
During the meeting held in Baku, the sides discussed the situation on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border and the development trends for the future, the development of tiles in the field of combating threats to border security, the continuation of the necessary activities with the aim of accelerating the work on border delimitation, the State Border Service said. The sides hailed the development of bilateral cooperation, stressing that links between Azerbaijani and Georgian border agencies contribute to the prevention of any illegal activity on the state border.
Furthermore, the Georgian delegation was informed about the operational conditions at Azerbaijan’s state border and existing threats, trans boundary criminal actions in Azerbaijan’s territories occupied by Armenia, as well as the measures taken to strengthen Azerbaijan’s border security system and to create a modern training system. During the visit, the Georgian delegation viewed the activities of the State Border Service's Office, the Coast Guard, SBS Academy, the Sarhadchi Sports Olympic Centre, the Special School and other sections.
In order to develop bilateral cooperation, an agreement on the activities of border representatives/border commissioners between the governments of Azerbaijan and Georgia was signed.
