Jens Stoltenberg’s Personal Condolences to the Liparteliani Family
“I would like to express my sincere condolences and support to your family” Stoltenberg, NATO’s General Secretary told the family of Tamta Liparteliani, the 23 year old Georgian killed by Anders Breivik.
“I have read diverse information about your daughter. We, in Norway, have opened a place where we remember the victims of the day, including Tamta. Thank you for finding time to meet with me.” Stoltenberg continued.
The NATO General Secretary, Norwegian himself, went to meet with the family along with the head of the Georgian Government, PM Irakli Garibashvili.
According to Stoltenberg, he shared his willingness to meet the family with the Prime Minister. He added that Prime Minister Garibashvili managed to organise the meeting quickly and he thanked the head of the Georgian Government for that.
Tamta Liparteliani, a 23 year old Georgian girl from Kutaisi, was among the victims of Anders Behring Breivik, a Norwegian right-wing extremist who claimed responsibility for the dual terrorist attacks in Norway in 2011.
The attack included a bombing of government buildings in Oslo, causing eight deaths. Breivik later moved onto Utoya Island, site of a Labour party youth camp, posed as a police officer and opened fire on the young people present killing 69, among them was Tamta Liparteliani.
Stoltenberg met with Tamta’s family during his visit to Georgia to open the joint NATO-Georgia Training and Evaluation Centre.
