9 Parties: 1 Presidential Candidate

The nine opposition parties to Giorgi Margvelashvili will be naming their presidential candidate on 17 July.

The representatives of each of the nine parties, who stated that they do not support Giorgi Margvelashvili’s candidacy, held a meeting on 15 July with regards to this matter. After the meeting, they said that, ultimately, the goal is to have one presidential candidate competing for them against the current ruling party.

It was reported that the candidate will be selected from the National Movement party, a party which was founded on 12 January 2017 after the disbandment of United National Movement, founded by former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and former UNM members.
