Georgian Parliament To Host A High-Level International Discussion On Legislative Openness

On July 17, at 12:00, Georgian Parliament will host in Tbilisi, 8 Rustaveli Avenue, the Open Parliament Day, a high level international discussion on legislative openness.

This event is taking place ahead of the Global Open Government Partnership (OGP) Summit in Georgia on July 18-19. It will gather over 200 participants from 12 parliaments and 24 world countries.

The Open Parliament Day will consist in discussing the legislative openness, dealing with the new ways of engaging citizens and civil societies in parliamentary work but also focusing on transparency.

Among others, Heidi Hautala, Vice-President of the European Parliament, Sanjay Pradhan, Chief Executive Officer of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), Ambassador Helen Clark, formerly the Prime Minister of New Zealand (1999 – 2008) and Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (2009 – 2017), or Katarina Mathernova, Deputy Director General at the European Commission will participate in the event.

The Open Parliament Day is initiated and organised by the Parliament of Georgia, in cooperation with the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Support Unit, with the assistance from the European Union (EU), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Good Governance Initiative (GGI), GIZ, National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI).
