Sri Lankan and Georgian Presidents Meet

The Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, in Georgia to speak at the 2018 OGP Summit in Tbilisi, met with the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili in Tbilisi on Wednesday to discuss bilateral trade.

President Sirisena suggested taking bilateral relations in a new direction, focusing on ways to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries. Both expressed a wish to conduct further discussions regarding such matters, including developing ties in agriculture and tourism, these being the livelihood of Georgia. Raising the facilities of many Sri Lankan students receiving education in Georgia was also amongst the main topics of discussion.

The Georgian President hosted a special lunch for President Maithripala Sirisena and other members of his delegation.
