Irakli Parjiani Unseen Works Go on Display in Tbilisi

Tbilisi is set to host an exhibition of works from famous Georgian painter Irakli Parjiani from September 5th-20th at Art Palace. Irakli Parjiani is a Georgian painter awarded many times for his work from various countries.

He was born in Tbilisi in 1950 and graduated from Tbilisi state Academy of Arts. Between 1989-1990 he used to work in Germany and was famous in many cities including Berlin and Barcelona. In 1991 he died in Tbilisi aged 41.

Since his death his works became even more popular. He was awarded the State Prize of Georgia in 1992 and the Pirosmani Prize in 1996. This exhibition, named “The Gospels of St Mark and St John” will also include the works painted in 1976. The project was organised by Art Palace and Baia Gallery.

The opening ceremony for the exhibition will be held on September 5th at 19:00 at Art Palace in central Tbilisi.
