PM: Green Economy Is Priority for Gov’t
Georgian Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze says that the Green Economy, which has been developed and will be presented in a few days, is very important for the government.
While delivering a speech at the presentation of Tbilisi Transport Policy on Tuesday, the PM noted that the Green Economy will help Georgia to become one of the leading states in this field.
“The Green Economy will enable us to advance our economics to a new level and improve the lives of our citizens in general,” he stated.
Bakhtadze admitted that the environmental policy of the country is ineffective and needs to be changed.
“While working on the new transport policy, we had two tasks: to eradicate the grave consequences that we have in Tbilisi and Georgia in terms of transport and environment, and to take this direction to a new level. Therefore, the transport policy of Tbilisi is of great importance to the Green Economy and its successful implementation,” the PM said.
He added the government decided to allocate important financial resources from the central budget of the country to change the Tbilisi ecosystem in the next few months, including the transport system.
“In this field, the Green Economy will play the main role,” he said.
