Russia Carries Out Military Exercises in Abkhazia

Russian soldiers stationed in Abkhazia, Georgia's breakaway region, have started command and staff exercises on the ground.


Information website Apsny.ru reported, based on the information of the press service of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces, that soldiers of the seventh Russian military base stationed in Abkhazia, has begun command and staff exercises on the ground.


About 700 soldiers and more than 150 units of modern military equipment are involved in the exercise. The military equipment included armored vehicles "Mustang", BTR-82M, self-propelled howitzers "Acacia", multiple launch rocket systems "Grad" and radio and space communications based automotive technology terrain.


According to the press service of the Southern Military District, military units were put on alert and composed units marched in the exercise area. During exercises simulated enemy air raids, as well as coping skills for contaminated sites in areas under enemy use of weapons of mass destruction, were held.
