Zurabishvili – “A President for Women”
Independent MP Salome Zurabishvili kicked off her election campaign yesterday with a visit to the village of Didi Jikhaishi, west of Kutaisi. Agenda reports that Zurabishvili met with voters in the Niko Nikoladze Museum and spoke on topics of healthcare, agriculture, immigrants, and more.
In her speech, she announced, "I will be a President for all of our society but, first of all, for women. The first female president must be a president for women.”
Zurabishvili officially announced her candidacy for president on August 6. Officially, there are 6 presidential candidates who will participate in the elections, which will be held on October 28th. There is one other woman running for president, Nino Burjanadze of the Russia-affiliated Democratic Movement-United Georgia.
