Turkey: Shots Fired At US Embassy

This morning, the security office at the gates of the US embassy in Ankara has been shot by unknown attackers.

According to Turkish officials, six shots were fired from a moving white car at 5:30 am (2:30 GMT). Three of the bullets hit the gate and a window, but there is no victims.

Officials said for now they have not yet identified the suspect(s).

Turkey and the US has been going through a serious diplomatic crisis for months.

Ten days ago, US President Donald Trump announced the lifting of additional economic sanctions against Turkey as an answer to the detention of American Pastor Andrew Brunson. The pastor, detained in Turkey, faces terrorism charges and up to 35 years in prison if found guilty.
