France Might Consider Job Quotas for Georgians

The French Ambassador to Georgia, Pascal Meunier says France may consider creating job quotas for Georgians.

Meunier says that the issue of job quotas raised by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel during her visit to Georgia, is also interesting for the French side.

"German Chancellor's statement was about the possibility of giving vocational education to young people and then creating jobs. Of course, we find this issue interesting and France will consider this opportunity. For example, I visited an agricultural lyceum not long ago, representatives of which will come to Georgia in a few days and who intend to cooperate with Georgia in this direction. So I think we'll study this issue in detail," he said.

The Ambassador also mentioned the number of asylum seekers from Georgia to France has reduced but still remains high.

“We are studying the issue together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia to see what measures are being taken to minimize the high rate of asylum seekers that has been observed. I do not have exact numbers, but I can say that this data is slightly reduced,” he noted.
