US Sends New Ambassador to Georgia

Yesterday, Ian Kelly, new Ambassador of the United States to Georgia, arrived in Tbilisi with his spouse Francesca.

The Ambassador stressed that in his diplomacy career of around 30 years, he always wanted to serve in Georgia.

The U.S. official expressed reservation in commenting on various political issues, before he presented his credentials, which is expected to happen today. The U.S. Ambassador is expected to meet the President Giorgi Margvelashvili. Kelly says his main priority will be supporting Georgia and deepening the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Georgia.

Ian Kelly has replaced Richard Norland, who left his office this summer.
