Jean-Claude Juncker, PM Bakhtadze Discuss Georgia’s Progress

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker discussed Georgia’s progress towards the European integration, and the positive trends in visa liberalization. The meeting was held under the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly.

European Commission President praised the country's democratic, economic, and political reforms.
Georgia's roadmap for EU integration, the successful implementation of the Association Agreement and DCFTA, and the importance of the unprecedented format of high-level meetings with the EU, with its inaugural session to be held in November in Brussels under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Georgia and the President of the European Commission, were also discussed by the sides.

Recent developments in Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions and the situation in the South Caucasus region were also discussed by the parties. Juncker praised Georgian Government's peace initiative “A Step to a Better Future,” and reaffirmed support for the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
