David Zalkaliani Meets General Secretary of the Gulf Cooperation Council

Within the framework of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani held a meeting with General Secretary of the Gulf Cooperation Council Abdullatif al-Zayani.

The sides highlighted the importance of Georgia’s successful co-operation with the Member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the areas of politics, economy and people-to-people contacts. The sides welcomed the opening of the embassies of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in Georgia that will further contribute to the development of bilateral relations. The Foreign Minister and the Secretary General highlighted the good dynamics of Georgia’s economic co-operation.

In this light, the sides emphasized the importance of the first Business Council to be held in November 2018. This positive dynamic is further supported by the active involvement of Gulf Airlines in the Georgian market which has translated into a considerable increase in the number of visitors from the Arab states.

David Zalkaliani thanked the Secretary General for the GCC’s firm support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
