Europe Day Celebrations Continue in Akhaltsikhe

On Saturday September 29, the city of Akhaltsikhe in southern Georgia hosted Europe Day celebrations. The municipal government transformed the historic Rabati Castle into a ‘Eurovillage,’ taking visitors on a journey through different countries of the European Union through fun activities.

Guests were able to learn about various EU-funded development programs and find out more about how the EU is helping create more opportunities for Georgian citizens.

Beneficiaries of the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) also participated in the event and presented their EU-funded agricultural and rural development products. Governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Besik Amiranashvili, Mayor of Akhaltsikhe, Zaza Melikidze, French Senators and the Communications Officer of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, Mikolaj Bekasiak, officially opened the Europe Day event and visited the stands of the participants.

The Europe Day activities were organized by the EU Delegation to Georgia, together with local authorities and EU partners, and the celebrations will continue in October.

The next stop for Europe Day celebrations will be Batumi.
