Tbilisoba Traffic Update
The roads in the center of Tbilisi have already begun to be blocked off in connection with the preparations for the annual holiday of Tbilisoba.
From 05:00 am on Friday, traffic was blocked on Europe Square and Metekhi Bridge, as well as from Abanotubani in the direction of Gorgasali Square. From 21:00, traffic on Liberty (Freedom) Square will be blocked off as well. The flow of cars along Rustaveli Avenue towards the Academy of Sciences of Georgia will be diverted through Kostava and Elbakidze streets.
The traffic will be restricted to the Akhvlediani Square and the adjacent territory; traffic on the right ramp of Baratashvili Bridge will be completely blocked. Public transport will move along a dedicated lane, in particular from Akhvlediani Rise in the direction of the Baratashvili Bridge and the St. Nicholas Church . The movement of vehicles will be fully restored following conclusion of the two-day celebrations.
The Tbilisoba festival, dedicated to the Georgian capital and the harvest, will cover several locations at once - Rike Park, Tegvtahevi, Dedaen Garden, Europe Square, Baratashvili Street and Liberty Square.
This year’s festivities will be held on October 6-7. Guests will can expect various forms of entertainment, costumed performances, shows, sports, wine and cheese tasting and a gala concert to round up the celebrations.
From this year, Tbilisoba will be held annually on the first weekend of October.
