The Defense Minister and Buying Weapons from the United States
At a press conference in Brussels this Monday, October the 10th, Defense Minister Levan Izoria made a statement that Georgia will once again purchase weapons from the United States. While visiting Brussels, Izoria iterated that NATO-Georgia cooperation was being planned.
Izoria stated that during his visit to Brussels the relationships between Georgia, the United States, and NATO have become increasingly significant. Having spoke with United States Defense Minister Mattis himself, Mattis thanked Izoria regarding the reforms in the defense ministry and noted the strengthened trust between the two nations. Due to the strong relationship and affirmed confidence between Georgia and the United States, Georgia has been and will continue to buy important weapons from the United States.
In addition, the Defense Secretary and his team have met with the NATO Secretary General to form the NATO-Georgia Commission. In this commission NATO members state the progress made regarding the democratic development of Georgia and defense ministry reforms. This new cooperative effort proposes to deepen the ties between Georgia and NATO and to help Georgia further integrate into the North Atlantic sphere.
With weapons being bought from the United States and Izoria’s plans with Georgia and NATO, Georgia is on its way to becoming a stronger and more prominent nation.
