Ministry of Foreign Affairs Informs Italy of Dimitri Medoev's Visit

Georgia’s Ministry of Affairs has stated that Italy is now aware of Dimitri Medoev’s, the de facto foreign minister of Georgia’s breakaway region of Tskhinvali/South Ossetia, visit to Italy.  And Italy has promised to strongly support the side of Georgia in this matter.  

The Ministry’s Press and Information Department has made statements on the Tskhinvali and Abbkhazia regions.  The Ministry has stated that the Russian Federation is actively trying to manifest and spread the notion that the occupational regimes of the Tskhinvali and Abbkhazia regions are recognized and supported internationally.  However, the Ministry has said that “Moscow’s efforts are ineffective, as the international community, including Italy, is fully informed about the ongoing processes in the occupied territories and strongly support Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” 

The Russian Federation is simply attempting draw attention away from their illegal practices by having such visits to foreign nations.  But Georgia, according to the Ministry, is appreciative of Italy’s “support of the non-recognition policy” of Georgia’s occupied regions.
