Make Georgia Great Again - Saakashvili Uses Trump's Slogan

Georgia’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili has posted a new photo on his Facebook page, which reads  - Make Georgia Great Again.

The photo refers to the second round of the presidential elections in Georgia, however, the slogan was a part of the US President Donald Trump’s election campaign in 2016.

Although the Make America Great Again slogan is connected to Trump, a similar phrase was first heard in Reagan's campaign in 1980.

The slogan has become a pop culture phenomenon, seeing widespread use and spawning numerous variants in the arts, entertainment and politics.

The second round of elections in Georgia will be held on December 2. The final results of the elections, published by the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) shows that the ruling GD-backed presidential candidate, Salome Zurabishvili is leading with 38.64% of votes, followed by the candidate of the United Opposition Grigol Vashadze - 37.74%.

Vashadze is the member of the former ruling party United National Movement (UNM) which was established by Saakashvili in 2001 and it was in power from 2003 to 2012, when the current Georgian Dream party won the elections.
