Tbilisi Condemns "Elections" in Donetsk and Luhansk
Official Tbilisi has condemned the so-called elections organized in Ukraine’s integral Eastern regions Donetsk and Luhansk, held on November 11.
“The conduction of such illegal 'elections' in the regions, where due to the Russian Federation’s effective control, the Ukrainian Authorities are unable to exercise their legitimate jurisdiction, grossly violates the fundamental norms and principles of International Law and represents a rude interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine,” the statement of Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.
The Ministry says the so called elections contradict the commitments under the Minsk Agreements and prevents the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia unequivocally supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders,” the MIA added.
