Linkevicius is Skeptical about the Date of the Presidential Elections
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevicius, said he is skeptical about the date of the second round of the presidential elections of Georgia.
In an interview with ‘Rustavi 2,’ he stated that he was surprised the elections are to be held in the middle of the working week. The politician noted that elections always represent some kind of a test of the democracy and transparency of the operating system of the government.
He also added that any replacement of a government should not have a negative impact on reforms planned in different spheres, including the EU integration process. Linkevicius states, the Government of Georgia has to be very serious about the date of the presidential elections, as appointing such a vital event on a Wednesday is strange to other countries and may become a motive for particular suspicions.
