Iconic Georgian Painter Exhibits in London
Iconic Georgian painter, Levan Lagidze, is exhibiting work in London for the first time in 20 years.
Running from 19 November to 8 December, the exhibition will showcase new paintings from the artist at Katrine Levin Galleries at La Galleria Pall Mall.
Known for his abstract philosophical paintings, especially of nature and landscapes, Lagidze has been prominent in the art world for many decades. Having graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1981, he participated in various exhibitions in the USSR and founded an art studio at the Tbilisi Painter’s House in the early 1980s.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, he opened the Lagidze Gallery in Tbilisi, to provide Georgian artists with financial support and an exhibition space.
His work has been exhibited all over the world, including the Modern Art Museum in Moscow and the Modern Art Museum in Kuwait.
The exhibition in London will showcase 25 new paintings by the artist.
