Denmark Awards Georgia Safe Country of Origin Status
Denmark has listed Georgia as a safe country, meaning it considers Georgia to meet international standards of law and judicial requirements.
“The decision once again emphasizes the positive aspects in terms of human rights and security economic developments and political stability in Georgia which is also supported by our partners,” read a statement on the office Facebook page of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
Coming into effect November 21, the decision will make it easier to reject asylum applications in a shorter amount of time.
The Danish Immigration Service and the National Police and Refugee Council made the decision. It follows Minister Davit Zalkaliani’s visit to Denmark on November 14 - 15 this year.
