President Margvelashvili Casts His Vote

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has cast his vote in the run-off of the presidential elections and calls on citizens to be active.

“I would like to call on every citizen of Georgia to go to the polling station to use its ballot paper to make a choice,” he stated.

Margvelashvili noted he sees the citizens of Georgia are active and are expressing their position.

“Thank you for such activity and I'm sure it will continue in the future, throughout the day, which guarantees that the elections will take place at a higher level and there will be fewer violations,” he said.

Today, Georgian citizens have to make a choice between two candidates: Ruling Georgian Dream-backed Salome Zourabishvili and the candidate of the United Opposition, Grigol Vashadze.

There are 3,703 polling stations throughout the country.

About 17,000 representatives of electoral subjects, more than 48,500 local and over 1300 international observers are monitoring the elections.
