Salome Zurabishvili: "Today We Refused to Return to the Past"
“Today, we jointly refused to go back to the past, which itself would interrupt the process of strengthening and developing our society,” the presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili said after the preliminary results of the exit polls were announced, conducted by different organizations, according to which she is the expected winner of the presidential elections 2018.
Zurabishvili thanked the voters for their activity and support.
"I welcome all our citizens who are listening to us now. First of all, I would like to thank everyone. Today is a very important day. Today, my country has made a principled choice. This choice is essential for the present and future of Georgia," Zurabishvili said.
According to the preliminary results of the exit poll conducted by Edison Research, Salome Zurabishvili, the presidential candidate supported by the ruling party, received 55% of votes, while Grigol Vashadze, presidential candidate of the United Opposition, received 45% of votes in the second round of the presidential elections of Georgia. The above-mentioned exit poll reflects the results as of 17:00. The exit poll was conducted by Edison Research at the request of Rustavi 2 TV.
Another exit poll requested by Imedi TV and conducted by “Gallup”, Salome Zurabishvili received 58%, Grigol Vashadze 42% of votes. In total 10,204 respondents were interviewed randomly. The margin of error is 2%.
