Georgian PM Comments on Preliminary Results of Runoff
Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze commented on the results of exit polls, according to which, ruling Georgian Dream (GD) backed candidate Salome Zurabishvili is leading.
Bakhtadze thanked Georgian people for their trust and wished Zurabishvili success.
“I would like to congratulate Salome Zurabishvili and the Georgian state on the victory. The elections have proved once again that Georgia is a truly democratic state,” Bakhtadze said.
The PM explained that both rounds of the elections revealed what people are expecting from the ruling party.
“We should not waste time on celebrations. It is time to work. I would like to declare with all my responsibility that we are ready to worthily respond to all the challenges Georgia is facing,” the PM stated.
Exit poll conducted by Edison Research, which was ordered by opposition-minded Rustavi 2 TV, revealed that Salome Zurabishvili received 55% of votes, while Grigol Vashadze, presidential candidate of the United Opposition, received 45%.
In another exit poll requested by Imedi TV and conducted by “Gallup”, Salome Zurabishvili received 58%, Grigol Vashadze 42% of votes.
