Margvelashvili: Russia Has No Allies in Recognition of Occupied Territories
Georgian outgoing president Giorgi Margvelashvili says that Russia does not have allies in the recognition of the occupied territories.
In his interview with the BBC Russian Service, the President said that world map printed in Moscow is absolutely different from the maps printed in Tbilisi, Washington or Brussels.
“It is Russian propaganda that Georgia has no European and North-Atlantic perspective and this propaganda is based on the principle - "We have the power". But the role of Georgian society and political leaders is to say that the truth is on our side. We have done this for centuries and we will continue to do so,” he stressed.
Margvelashvili noted Russia occupying the territories of Georgia comes without any logic, as there "is no oil or diamonds here."
“Russia is the largest country in the world… Russia always speaks from a position of power, and that power is both aggression and occupation,” he added.
The Georgian President noted that nowadays more and more people are leaving Russia.
“Everyone is trying to get away from Russia. Even those people and nations for whom the Russian language is now the lingua franca, try to leave the country,” he added.
