Municipal Funding Increases by More than 100 mln Lari
Municipal funding is to be increased by more than 100 million Lari, stated Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Maia Tskitishvili.
Speaking in Parliament on 7 December, she underlined the importance of local governments having the necessary resources to resolve problems in their area without the involvement of the central government.
The funding, 13% more than in 2017, should advance decentralization in Georgia and ensure that local governments meet their goals. “The process is in its final phase and the parliament, government, local authorities, international and local organizations are involved in it,” she said.
A decentralization middle-term strategy is currently being drafted by the Ministry of Infrastructure for 2018 - 2025.
