Georgia-UK Free Trade Deal Discussed
The Ambassador of Georgia to the United Kingdom (UK) Tamar Beruchasvhili, has announced Georgia and the (UK) are discussing a potential free trade deal.
The two countries have held meetings on the possibility of signing a strategic deal between the two countries which would include free trade.
“[The agreement] includes the component of a free trade deal and establishing cooperation in different fields...Several rounds of discussions have already been held”, stated Beruchashvili.
The UK is looking to form potential trade deals and strengthen its existing ties with countries outside of the EU following its departure from the European Union in March 2019.
Georgia has also discussed the possibility of a free trade agreement with the United States. On 17 December, Finance Minister Giorgi Kobulia announced that the outcome of talks will begin to be implemented in 2019.
