IPRM Meeting Resumes in Ergneti
After a 3-month break, the 90th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting took place in Ergneti.
The meeting was co-facilitated by Erik Høeg, Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, and Ambassador Rudolf Michalka, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.
Last time the meeting was left in protest by de facto South Ossetian representatives “in protest” to the Interpol’s arrest warrant issued against two South Ossetian security officers over the murder of Georgian citizen Archil Tatunashvili in February.
The representatives of the State Security Service of Georgia raised the issue of Tatunashvili’s murder and categorically demanded the transfer of Tatunashvili’s internal organs and personal belongings, which were absent when his body was handed over by the breakaway Tskhinvali to the Georgian side in March, 2018.
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to the issue of Davit Basharuli who died in unclear circumstances. Talks were also held on incidents of so-called borderization.
The participants of the meeting also discussed every important incident that has occurred recently in the occupied region and its vicinities that pose a threat to stability and a secure environment.
The European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) reports that the meeting concluded in an open and constructive manner and participants agreed to conduct the next IPRM meeting on February 8, 2019.
