Private Sector Development Advisory Council Meets at Ministry of Economy
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia organized a regular meeting of the Advisory Council on Private Sector Development on Thursday. The meeting was led by the Advisory Council's Chairman of the Board and Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Ekaterine Mikabadze.
The meeting included various presentations on the ongoing reforms in the field of vocational education, including the Law on Vocational Education adopted in September and the activities carried out within the framework of the Sub-Agency for Women's Entrepreneurship. Additionally, meeting participants discussed factors hindering private sector development in Georgia.
The Advisory Council on Private Sector Development has been functioning since 2016 and aims to deepen cooperation between the private sector, including small and medium enterprises, and the public sector. The main functions of the Council are: promoting constructive dialogue with the private sector, identifying and reviewing factors in the development of the private sector, preparing proposals and recommendations on private sector development, including small and medium entreprise development issues, discuss ongoing and planned reforms related to the private sector, ensuring transparency of current and planned legislative and institutional changes in accordance with the legislation, and organizing public and group discussions on these topics.
The functioning of a significant platform for dialogue and cooperation between the Council and the public sector is one of the main priorities for the government in the development of the private sector, especially small and medium enterprises.
