Mandatory Technical Inspection of All Vehicles Introduced

The Ministry of Economy has introduced a mandatory technical inspection for all vehicles on January 1.

Previously, only certain types of vehicles such as public transport, buses, trucks, and cars with a three-cylinder engine required an inspection. 135,000 cars were already inspected prior to January 1.

Questions have arisen as to whether inspectors are properly equipped and trained to inspect cars. However, the test centers maintain that a high standard of inspection is met, with much of the work carried out by computers.

New inspection centers were opened before December 20, although some centers fail to meet the capacity levels needed, whilst others failed to open at all.
