Georgian PM: Lithuania Is Georgia's Devoted Friend
Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze says that Lithuania is Georgia’s devoted friend and a supporter of the country’s national interests in every international format.
The PM made the statement while summing up his official visit to Lithuania on January 21.
He expressed his gratitude to the Lithuanian officials and noted that very productive meetings had been held with Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis and President Dalia GrybauskaitÄ—.
Bakhtadze noted the two countries have bilateral relations in a lot of directions which are advancing very actively.
“Trade volumes are increasing year-on-year, though we believe that additional potential still exists in this area. As such, the Inter-Governmental Economic Commission will convene soon to try and identify new prospects of economic cooperation and to find a better utilization of the current links between the two countries. Lithuania has had striking success in the area of innovations and the establishment of an eco-system in support of start-ups. We are making the first steps towards this end and Lithuania is actively encouraging us in this area as well,” he stated.
The PM added that Lithuania is also an active supporter of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
“Lithuania’s support is of paramount importance for us. We were once again assured of this demonstrated support today and I wish to express my tremendous gratitude to our friends for this,” he said.
