New Protest Posters Placed Near HCOJ Headquarters
New posters have been placed near the High Council of Justice (HCOJ) headquarters, depicting newly appointed lifetime judge Levan Murusidze, a controversial person in Georgia’s justice system, with a sword in one hand and in the other the cut-off head of Themis, a Greek Titan representing divine order, fairness, law and custom.
The poster also shows Bidzina Ivanishvili, Georgia’s ex-Prime Minister and founder of the ruling party Georgian Dream (GD). In the poster, he is kneeled near the body of Themis, as if he is checking if she is dead or not.
Levan Murusidze, who is often referred as “biased” and “corrupt” by some, was supported by 11 members out of 15 of the High Council of Justice in late December.
The judge said that for the last two years “there has been ongoing deliberate defamation against him,” adding it is a lie that he is “incompetent, dishonest and biased.”
Murusidze also responded to the allegations that there is a “clan” of judges in the judicial system of Georgia who rule the system and make decisions “favorable to their interests.”
