Detained Georgian Priest Released from Occupied Tskhinvali
After spending two days in the pre-trial detention facility in Georgia’s breakaway region of South Ossetia, Georgian priest Davit (Durglishvili), was released by occupants.
The cleric was handed over to the Georgian law enforcers on February 5 evening, after which he was taken to the police department.
Other people who were with the priest when he was detained say that he was working on his agricultural land near the dividing line when the so-called border guards showed up and detained him.
However, after he was released, the priest says he crossed the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) with the occupied region of Tskhinvali himself and was not abducted.
“During the period of my detention, I was treated well. I think you can notice it,” he told journalists.
European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) was also involved in the release of the clergyman from the detention.
