Acclaimed American Film Director Jonathan Nossiter to Visit Georgia

Prize winning American film director Jonathan Nossiter is set to visit Georgia to attend the KINOVINO International Wine Film Festival in Tbilisi, which will take place from the 6th until the 10th of October.

Nossiter's multiple award winning documentaries, including Mondovino, Natural Resistance and the feature film Rio Sex Comedy, will be screened at the Amirani Cinema.

The film director will hold several press conferences and visit several Georgian wineries.

"I've wanted for a long time to visit what I know must be a place of magic and poetry," Nossiter said.

Nossiter – son of The Washington Post and The New York Times foreign correspondent, Bernard Nossiter – was born in Washington D.C. in 1961 and grew up in France, England, Italy, Greece and India.

He has dual citizenship of the Unites States and Brazil and is fluent in six languages. He lives in Rome with his three children.

Nossiter has directed six feature films. The most recent, Natural Resistance, was first shown at the 2014 Berlin Film Festival in two different sections (Panorama and Culinary Cinema).

His previous film, Rio Sex Comedy (2010), starred Charlotte Rampling, Bill Pullman and Irène Jacob, and premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It was released in various countries.

Mondovino, a comedy set in the wine world was nominated for the Palme D’Or in Cannes in 2004. It was one of only three documentaries ever nominated in the history of the festival and was released in over 40 countries. 

Nossiter is currently preparing a new documentary and a new fiction film, both with Santiago Amigorena.
