Zurabishvili Meets First Lady, Women Leaders in Paris
Within the framework of an official visit to France, the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, met with the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron.
The First Lady hosted President and her children at the Élysée Palace, where they discussed prospects for strengthening relations between the two countries and the efficient use of personal contacts to reach this goal.
Zurabishvili also had a meeting with the women leaders representing the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society, which is a leading platform dedicated to highlighting women’s voices and perspectives on global issues.
She emphasized the importance of meeting with women leaders before moving to the official part of her visit to France. The meeting focused on Georgia’s European integration path and prospects for rapprochement with the EU through sectoral cooperation.
Zurabishvili noted that Georgia could develop closer cooperation with the EU in education, culture, and transport areas rather than in politics, considering the current context in the European Union.
She also spoke about women in Georgia, highlighting that they are extremely strong, and were capable of easily adapting to the political, business and cultural environment after the fall of the Soviet Union.
She also met with the President of the Senate, Gérard Larcher, and discussed prospects for further advancing Georgia-France relations and priorities of Georgia’s foreign policy.
As a part of her visit, Zurabishvili has already met Georgian diaspora and the students in Paris.
