Georgia Reiterates Solidarity to Venezuela

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze took to twitter to express solidarity to Venezuela’s Interim President Juan Guaido and the National Assembly.

The PM once again stated that Georgia supports the courageous people of Venezuela in the fight for democracy and human rights.

“Georgia joins the international solidarity for the Interim President of Venezuela, Juan Guaido, and National Assembly and also in delivering Humanitarian Aid to the country to help people in need. We support the courage of the people of Venezuela in the fight for democracy and respect for Human Rights,” the PM’s tweet reads.

Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani also made a comment regarding the issue.

“Georgia stands by the international community to support the efforts of Interim President Guaido and National Assembly, Venezuelans for supplying Humanitarian Aid to Venezuela and assisting those in need. People of Venezuela deserve to live in #Venezuelalibre,” the statement reads.

Deadly clashes broke out in Venezuelan border towns on Saturday, as President Nicolás Maduro blocked humanitarian aid from crossing from Colombia and Brazil.

On Sunday, a boat carrying US aid from Puerto Rico to Venezuela was forced to dock on the small Dutch territory island of Curaçao after it was intercepted by the Venezuelan navy off the northern coast, AFP news agency reports.

The vessel was reportedly loaded with nine cargo containers filled with food and medicine.

After deadly clashes over humanitarian aid, the US stated “Maduro's days are numbered.”
