European Georgia Loses Minority Status in Parliament

Opposition party European Georgia has lost its status of  minority in the legislative body after two more majority MPs quit the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.

GD MPs Gia Zhorzholiani and Mirian Tsiklauri submitted their statements regarding leaving the majority two days ago. It means that more MPs are now in the minority.

European Georgia is now represented in Parliament by 20 MPs, the United National Movement has six legislators, and there will be seven MPs in the Alliance of Patriots after Gia Zhorzholiani and Mirian Tsiklauri join the party.

Independent MPs count Eka Beselia, Gedevan Popkhadze, Levan Gogichaishvili, Beka Natsvlishvili, Nato Chkheidze, Mamuka Chikovani, David Chichinadze and Zviad Kvachantiradze. Therefore, there are 21 MPs out of the parliamentary minority and majority, which is why European Georgia has lost the status of parliamentary minority.
