Foreign Minister Says Georgia Is Priority for NATO

Georgia’s Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani says that NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg’s visit to Tbilisi on March 24 indicates that Georgia is a priority for NATO.

The minister said that the visit is of great importance as it takes place ahead of the NATO anniversary ministerial.

“The whole week is extremely intense in the context of relations with NATO. The visit of the NATO Secretary General also coincides with the NATO exercise. This week we also have a meeting of the NATO Military Committee,” he said.

Zalkaliani added that this week he has a separate meeting in Brussels, within the framework of the NATO-Georgia Council, which will be devoted to security issues of the Black Sea.

“Having such a loaded role on the NATO agenda during the week shows that Georgia has a high priority on the NATO political agenda,” he said.

The Minister also stated that Georgia has all practical tools for integration into the Alliance and in terms of implementing these tools, Georgia is recognized as a leader.
