EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee Positively Assesses Georgia
EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee positively assessed Georgia's progress in 2014-2018.
The information was released by the Georgian Parliament Press Office. The information reads that the 8th session the EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee was led by the Chair of the EU Integration Committee of Georgian Parliament, Tamar Khulordava, and European Parliament member Sajjad Karim.
The key issues of the meeting were the implementation of the Association Agreement, the ongoing and planned democratic reforms, human rights protection, perspectives of the deep and comprehensive free trade agreement (DCFTA), agriculture development and cooperation with the EU in the field of energy.
In addition, during the meeting, the achievements in the European integration process were emphasized, including the main ones: the EU-Georgian Association Agreement and agreement on the DCFTA.
One of the important achievements of cooperation with the EU was named as the introduction of visa-free travel, which has already allowed more than 300,000 Georgian citizens to move freely in the Schengen Area.
At the end of the session, the EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee adopted a joint statement and recommendations where all important issues with regard to Georgia were reflected.
