Gov' of Georgia Adopts Foreign Policy Strategy

The Government of Georgia adopted its foreign policy strategy for 2019 - 2022. The list contains a wide range of topics and current issues that the government aims to address in the next four years.

The main priorities for Georgia in the coming years are sovereignty and territorial integrity, the European Union and NATO integration, sustainable economic development, bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the region and worldwide and a general contribution to global security.

One of the key challenges for the country is Russia´s occupation of the Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia). The document says that the current situation regarding these regions endangers the security situation in the Black Sea region as well as the entire European and Euro-Atlantic area.

The foreign policy aims to address the main challenges in a pragmatic and result-oriented way and to strengthen the country´s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as promote a further consolidation of its institutional democracy, public welfare and a worthy place in the European community.
